TOC 2019

TOC Players,

Congratulations to Lee Gardner on winning the 2019 Tour of the County. Lee finished -24 by starting off red hot and sustaining great play shooting under his target each and every round.

I’m no Currie Park Men’s Club history buff, but this year’s TOC scores must have given the season long TOC record a run for its money. Other noteworthy players were; Doug Bowring second, Brian Pederson third, and Tom Condella fourth. Bruss, Frenzel, Cuthbert, Garbers, Glinksi, Bowlware, McGrath, and Carini finshed the year in the money as well. See full results below.

Thanks for a fun and successful season, look forward to seeing you all next year. TOC #1 starts in ~231 days, and sign up for the event closes in 224 days.

Brown Deer played long today, with soft fairways and thick damp rough. Ken Collins and Darrell Frenzel tied for first with net -3. Ken was medalist with a 76. Full results can be found here.

TOC #7 at Brown Deer

Full results for TOC #6 at Whitnall can be found here. For the third time this year we had a player go net 10 under par. Congratulations to Jack Bruss for winning the event. Jack took a brief glance at shooting his age today with a beautiful 76 throwing himself into the mix for yearend payouts.

Lee Gardner was medalist playing from the black tees firing a 72. Boulware, Mader, Wolter, Schriendl, and Carini also broke 80.

Through six events scoring has been lights out. Lee Gardner currently holds a 7 shot lead going into the final event at Brown Deer. However, plenty of opportunity to break into the top 12 for nearly the entire field.

TOC #6 at Whitnall Park

YTD after 6 events

TOC Players,

Tom Condella stole the show with a 73, net 10 under, with 15 pars. Lee Gardner also shot 73 to tie for medalist.

TOC #5 at Johnson Park

YTD after 5 events

TOC #4 at Naga-Waukee

TOC players,

The rain cooperated right on schedule this AM. Hitting the fairway was crucial today as some spots in the rough were down right impossible. Those who found the fairway had a good chance at a low round.

Lee Gardner won the event with a -1 gross 70, good for -9 net. There were 5 skins won today, full results can be found here and payouts are detailed below.

Our next TOC event will be held at Naga-Waukee on Saturday, July 6.

Full results for TOC #2 at Dretzka can be found here and payouts are listed at the bottom of this email. Conditions were tough; wet, thick rough, windy; however, this was no match for Chuck Garbers with a hole-in-one on number four in route to a -10 target score and a runaway win at TOC #2. Medalist was…yawn…Lee Gardner with a 76. There were also an incredible 10 individual skins, 8 birdies, 2 eagles. No one played the black tees, because let’s face it, the black tee at Dretzka is absurd.

Results from TOC #1 at Oakwood can be found on the website here. Congratulations to Tom Condella winning the event with 4 under his target score. Chris Glinski and Lee Gardner were your medalist shooting 78. I have no comments regarding the round or conditions, but thank you to Jeff for filling in for me.

The “Tour of the County” (TOC) is an opportunity to play in organized, competitive golf outings, outside of the regular club events. You must be a member in good standing in the Currie Park Men’s Golf Club to participate. Essentially, you compete against your personal handicap, in a relaxed and friendly setting. Pairings are varied for each outing. This is a good way to get to know other members of the club, to get in practice rounds, or to just play more golf. USGA rules apply and everyone is expected to maintain the appropriate pace of play. Carts are optional.

  • All Currie Park Men’s Golf Club members are welcome; handicaps range from 2 to 28
  • Play against your own handicap (Target Score), adjusted for the course and selected tee box
  • $50 entry fee for the season (100% paid out at end of season) for low net scores at each event, based on your Target Score, skins game at each event.  Top low net total paid at year end (your best 4 of 7 net scores)
  • No penalty for missed events, only four lowest scores count for year end
  • If you would like to join, please pay the $50 entry fee to Brian Pederson, the Club Treasurer, and let him know you are joining the “Tour of the County”
