TOC 2025

Gents,

Here are the season-end results for the 2025 Tour of the County. Overall scores were much better this year than the previous two seasons. Please take a moment to review your individual score.

Congratulations to Dan Seiter on winning the 2025 Tour of the County! Dan put together 3 very solid rounds of golf and 1 incredible round breaking 100 for the first time and shooting -8 at Mee-Kwon. Dan’s final tally was -7.

Dom Carini and Billy Z. tried to track down Dan on the final day, but it wasn’t meant to be. Still very good seasons by both finishing -4 and -3, respectively. Wiegley, Sweeney, Jones, Kapp, Bruss, Hirsch, Pederson, and Beronja also placed in the top 12 and finished in the money. Yours truly choked like an absolute dog on #18 at Currie putting myself just on the outside looking in.

Brian Pederson will handle the actual payouts later this year.

On a final note, after 9 years as Director of the TOC, it’s time for me to step down from the role. It was a fun responsibility, and it was a real pleasure organizing the events for a great group of guys. Thanks to all of you who helped at the scoring tent over the years.

I’d also like to thank and welcome Jim Sauceda as the next director of the TOC starting in 2026!!!

Cheers,
Corey

Gents,

We had a wonderful day for golf, and Currie was in pretty good shape considering it was completely flooded a few weeks ago. Kurt Beronja was the victor shooting his target score and medalist score of 76. Camosy, Zolandz, Bruss, Mader, Thompson, and Dr. Suess also played solidly and cashed in the event.

Skins paid $16 each: Torch (#4), Thompson (#5), Wu (#7), Boulware (#8), Evans III (#13), Carini (#14), and Cuthbert (#15).

Cheers,
Corey

Gents,

We started the day fighting off mosquitoes, but once the sun came out and the grass dried, it turned into a perfect day for golf. Fairways were a premium with the thick rough. I learned Oakwood’s been dealing with irrigation issues, which is why the greens were so difficult to hold. Turns out that torrential rain was a blessing for the course.

We had a three-way tie for first: Alton Weigley, Dom Carini, and Brian Pederson all shot net -3. I mistakenly said post-round that Alton won outright, so my apologies for the incorrect announcement. Kapp, Cuthbert, Brandt, and Garbers also played well and cashed. Dom Carini took medalist honors with a gross 75, and Cuthbert broke 80 with a 79.

Skins paid $19 each: Carini (#1), Kapp (#6), Pederson (#15), Czaplewski (#17), and Carini again (#18).

Cheers,
Corey

Gents,

It was a hot and humid day on Sunday at Mee-Kwon. Sadly, in my opinion the course was in terrible shape especially given it is peak golf season right now. Overall, there was a lot of good golf played.

Congratulations to Dan Seiter who broke 100 for the first time and won the event with net -8! C. Jones, Sweeny, Zolandz, Cuthbert all played well and cashed. Myself, Sauceda, and Wiegley also earned the famous $1.67 apiece. The medalists for the event were myself and Sweeney shooting a pair of 76s.

Skins: Mader (#3), Brandt (#8), Alba (#11), and Tubbin (#18).

Year-to-date results are starting to take shape with Seiter way out in front of the group with his -8 from Sunday. Next TOC is on August 30 at Oakwood.

Cheers,
Corey

Gents,

The day started out bleak, but the rain subsided after about 15 minutes of play, and we had a fairly good day for golf.

Steve Jaeger was the last person to enter the club house dashing Jackie Wu’s lifelong dream of a TOC event win. Congrats to Jaeger on a net -1 and first place finish. Wu, S. Brandt, C. Jones, Kapp, Seiter, and Sweeney all played well enough to cash in the event. Jeff Kapp was your medalist and the only person to break 80 with a gross 78. Nice playing Jeff!

There were three skins each paying $35. Bruss (#3), Sweeney (#12), and J. Jones (#16).

Gents,

It was a hot and humid morning at Whitnall yesterday. Course was in great shape although the mid round watering of the greens was strange making the ground rather damp around the putting services. The heat was no match for Scott Brandt and his trusty Mountain Dew. Scott shot net -3 to win the event. Congrats Scott! Kurt Beronja was the medalist with a gross 78.

Also playing well and placing in the money was Bowring, Sweeney, Tarantino, Beronja, Czaplewski, Bruss, and Weigley.

There were five skins paying $22 a piece: Brandt (#4), Sweeney (#10), Cuthbert (#12), Carini (#13), and Mayer (#17).

Hole #2 and #16 played the most difficult yesterday, while #17 and #3 played the easiest.

Gents,

We had a beautiful day for golf and Dretzka has started to take form. Congrats to Bill Zolandz for winning the event with a net -5. Also a congratulation to Mark Cuthbert with a hole in 1 on number 13!!! Carini, Hirsch, Pederson, Seiter, and Jones also all played well enough to cash in the event. Carini was your medalist with a 74.

Skins were had by Pederson (#3), O’Neil (#6), Hirsch (#13), Jaeger (#14).

Full results are here.

Cheers,
Corey

Gents,

Here are the results and payouts from yesterday’s first TOC event at Naga-Waukee. For April 27, the course and especially the greens were in great shape, rough needs to come in a bit yet, but overall a beautiful day and good conditions.

Congrats to Jack Bruss and Jeff Camosy who both started the season hot, each posting a net -3 to tie for first. Hirsch, Beronja, Seiter, and Sevener all shot their target or better and cashed. Medalist was Kurt Beronja with a gross 75. Nice playing guys.

There were two skins paying $67 each
Bruss #4
Pederson with an eagle! on #5

Course observations:
Toughest holes to par: #10 and #13
Easiest holes to par: #6 and #8

It was great to see a strong turn out for our first event. Also a big welcome to new members playing yesterday: Steve True, Jermey Jones, Johnny Torch, Ryan Thompson, Dane Czaplewski, and Xiajoie (Jackie) Wu.

Cheers,
Corey

The “Tour of the County” (TOC) is an opportunity to play in organized, competitive golf outings, outside of the regular club events. You must be a member in good standing in the Currie Park Men’s Golf Club to participate. Essentially, you compete against your personal handicap, in a relaxed and friendly setting. Pairings are varied for each outing. This is a good way to get to know other members of the club, to get in practice rounds, or to just play more golf. USGA rules apply and everyone is expected to maintain the appropriate pace of play. Carts are optional.

All Currie Park Men’s Golf Club members are welcome.

Play against your own handicap (Target Score), adjusted for the course and selected tee box

$50 entry fee for the season (100% paid out at end of season) for low net scores at each event, based on your Target Score, skins game at each event. Top low net total paid at year end (your best 4 of 7 net scores)

No penalty for missed events, only four lowest scores count for year end

If you would like to join, please pay the $50 entry fee to Brian Pederson, the Club Treasurer, and let him know you are joining the “Tour of the County”
