First Team at Dretzka Park - Results

Guys,

We had great weather and a great result this past Sunday for the first-team match at Dretzka.  I am proud to report that Currie took the most points!  Results are below:

Currie: 5, 6, 2, 6 (19 Total Points)
Greenfield: 4, 4, 4, 6 (18 Total Points)
Whitnall: 2, 6, 2, 6 (16 Total Points)
Oakwood: 0, 1, 4, 0 (5 Total Points)
Dretzka: 2, 0, 0, 0 (2 Total Points)

Christopher Glinski and John Dobroski won 5 points
Jake Boulware and Larry Dake won 6 points
Rich Saks and Gerry McGrath won 2 points
Phil Levin and Brian Pederson won 6 points

Each match was worth a total of 6 points, and we played four matches of 2-man best ball.  The next, and final, first-team match will be on September 22nd at Oakwood.  It will be Ryder Cup format.  Let me know if you are interested in playing in that match so I can start putting our lineup together.

Each 2-man best ball match was worth a total of 6 points, meaning each team could earn a maximum of 24 points.  We were up against some tough competition, and the outcome reflects that.  Two of our teams played against Greenfield and two of our teams played against Oakwood.

First Team at Currie Results

1st Team All-Stars:

Thanks to all of you who participated throughout the season.  I appreciate the spirited effort and particularly the great showing defending our home court. For the match, we finished in 3rd place, 6 points behind  2nd place Whitnall.  I originally thought we finished second, but, in reviewing the scoring matrix I noticed some problems with the totaling and did my own calculation, manually.  The Currie match and the season was won by Greenfield with 653 points for the 5 matches.  This averages out to be 130 points per match or 13 points per man for the season.  Something for us to target for next year.  I revised the totals summary for the season and we finished in 4th place, only 27 points behind Oakwood.  Considering that we didn't always have our lowest handicap players available I think this is a pretty outstanding accomplishment for Team Currie.  Thanks to Dave Labinski and his staff for all the help with scoring and the challenging course setup.   

Match Highlights:

John Dobroski shot an outstanding 1 under par 70 and got 15 points.  Congrats, John, for that amazing round!  Not far behind was Dave Ullenberg with a 74 and 14 points, Steve Wolter with a 75 and 15 points, Ken Collins with a 77 and 13 points, and Dominic Carini with a 77 and 12 points.  

Other leaders in the points column were the ever reliable Rich Saks with an 82 and 12 points and yours truly with an 85 and 14 points.

Ken Collins got a skin on #6 with a birdie and Dave Ullenberg got a skin on #11 with a birdie.  

Thanks to everybody who played and grinded out every point you could get.  We represented ourselves well and we can take this competitive spirit into next season.

First Team at Brown Deer Results

1st Teamers:

Here are the results from our 1st Team match at Brown Deer on Saturday.  I want to thank you all for participating and boldly taking on the challenge that was, as Corey Mader remarked, "A Behemoth of a Course".  That was indeed the case!  It was a beautiful day to play golf, the course was tipped out to the max, and the pins were in some pretty dicey positions.  That all made for a pretty "adventurous" round for many of us.  All things considered we were able to get 72 points which was 4th place behind Greenfield, Whitnall, and Brown Deer.  For the season we are only 50 points behind Oakwood going into our last match at Currie National.  With a good performance 3rd place is still within reach.  I think that would be a pretty satisfying accomplishment.

Jack Bruss led the team with 13 points, followed by Dave Ullenberg and Brian Waldera with 11, and Rich Saks with 10.  Dave also had the low score with an 82, followed by John Dobroski with an 83 and Corey Mader with an 84.  Dave Ullenberg also had a skin on #4 with a birdie.

Our final match is at Currie National on September 23rd.

Thanks again to all who played.  Regardless of how your matches played out, I know you all gave it your best and I appreciate the effort.

First Team at Greenfield Results

Currie 1st Team:

Here are the results from our 1st Team match at Greenfield this past Saturday.  It was a beautiful day and I thought the course was in great shape.  The set up was challenging and had some pretty interesting pin placements.  We finished in 4th place with 80 points behind Oakwood, Whitnall, and Greenfield in that order.  Given that we still have 2 matches remaining, including a home court advantage at Currie National, I still think we have an opportunity to advance our position into the top 3.  I appreciate all of you who participated and grinded out all the points we were able to get.  I thought you all did a great job of representing our club.  The low score was turned in by Dominic Carini with a 76 and 9 points.  Dave Ullenberg shot a 77 and led the club in points with 14.  Rich Saks was second in points with 11.  Nice job Rich!  Congrats to Jed Kennedy who got a skin with a 3 on #13.  Our next match is August 9th at Brown Deer.

First Team at Oakwood Results

Here are the results from our match yesterday at Oakwood. Thank you all for gutting out the 2 hour rain delay and coming through with another good showing for team Currie. We finished in 3rd place with 106 points behind Greenfield with 140 and Oakwood with 107. For the season we are in 4th place, but only 9 points behind Oakwood and only 20 behind Greenfield and Whitnall. With one great performance we could be in serious contention for the top spots. Congrats to Ken Collins, doing his part to make 1st team great again by getting all 18 points with a stellar 74. Also congrats to Jed Kennedy for getting a skin with an eagle 3 on #11.

Again, I appreciate all of you who participated and came through with a successful team effort. Our next match is at Greenfield on July 15th. The Currie match originally scheduled for June 16th was moved to September 23rd so it wouldn't interfere with the U.S. Open or Father's Day. If you know that you will be able to make the match at Greenfield let me know.

First Team at Dretzka Results

Thank all of you for participating and making my captains debut quite a successful showing.  I know it wasn't easy for all of you to commit to playing on mother's day so I really appreciate the effort. We finished 3rd with 104 points behind Whitnall with 133 and Oakwood with 112.  It was a difficult scoring day as the course played long and the rough was pretty thick.  I think we all hung in there tough and got all the points we could possibly get.  Definitely a nice start to the season!

First Team at Brown Deer Results / Season Results

Guys,

I first wanted to say thanks again for playing at Brown Deer Park this past Saturday. We ended up with 82 points, which was a tie for 3rd place in the Match, behind Greenfield who finished 1st with 152 and Brown Deer was 2nd at 116 points. The final results for Brown Deer are attached.

Jake Boulware shot 78 and  led our team with 14 points and Phil Levin got 13 points.

I have attached a Spreadsheet that shows all points won in each Match for all 5 matches, and I was the Top Point person on the year with 49 points, Jake got 45 points and Phil got 44.

First Team at Greenfield Results

Guys,

I first wanted to say thanks again for playing at Greenfield yesterday and also for everyone staying during the 1 1/2 hour rain delay and completing your round.  We ended up with 73 points, which was in 5th place in the Match. Greenfield won the match with 121 points and they have a commanding lead (71 points over Whitanll) heading into the final match.

Ken Collins & Jake Boulware led our team with 13 points and Jim Fossett got 12 points. There were no skins for the Currie guys.

Our 5th (Final) Match of the year is Saturday - Aug 13th at Brown Deer Park G.C.. The tee times are again between 6:30 am and 8:50 am. Please let me know if your available to play. The Ladies Professional Symmetry Golf Event starts the Monday after our Match so Brown Deer will be in great shape.

First Team at Currie Results

Guys,

I first wanted to say thanks again for playing at Currie National this past Saturday on a sunny, beautiful day.  We ended up with 92 points, which was in 3rd place in the Match, behind Whitnall who finished 1st with 101 and Oakwood was 2nd at 97 points.

Scott Brandt  led our team with 18 points and I got 17 points.

Our 4th Match of the year is Sunday - July 17th at Greenfield. The tee times are again between 6:30 am and 8:38 am. We are currently in 4th Place, but only 16 points behind Brown Deer for 3rd Place and 28 points behind Whitnall for 2nd place.

I want to put a strong team out at Greenfield, so please let me know if you can play.

First Team at Dretzka Results

Guys,

I first wanted to say thanks again for playing at Dretzka this past Sunday and battling the gusty winds! We finished 5th with 74 points.  After 2 matches we are now in 4th Place in the Standings.

Mark Music led our team with 17 points and he also shot 79. Steve Wolter also shot 79 and got 12 points. Nice job guys!

I will sending out another email this week, confirming you can play on Saturday - June 18th at Currie if you have already committed that you were available to play.

First Team at Whitnall Results

Guys,

I first wanted to say thanks again for playing at Whitnall this past Saturday and braving the tough conditions! We did very well and finished 3rd place and just missed 2nd place by 5 points. Great start to the season!!

Jake Boulware led our team with 18 points and I got 15 points.

First of all I want to thank every one who played Saturday at Currie and being patient on the weather delay to start the match. We had a rough day and finished 5th today with 73 Points. Greenfield was 1st with a total of 138. We currently are now in 4th Place in the YTD Standings with 371 points. Greenfield is leading with 487 points and Whitnall is 2nd with 432 points with 1 Match to go. See attached for all the scores and points. Please post your Scores for Handicap as well with it being a T score from the Blue Tees.
