Club Event at Fairways of Woodside - Results

Currie Grinders and Mudders,

It was a bit of a challenging day at, as I sometimes like to call it, The "Unfair Ways" of Woodside. We started off with a nice, hot, humid day that eventually turned into about a 2 hour rain delay for the last 5 groups. In spite of the delay there was some very impressive golf played. Lee Gardner and Rich Saks won the event at -12, $50ea. Steve Amble and Jessie Weathersby were 2nd at -10, $30ea. Bryan Olen/Jim Sauceda and Mark/Eric Schreindl all tied for 3rd at -9, $17.50ea. In 5th place was Corey Mader with a blind draw as his partner at -8, $10. Individual medalist was John Dobroski with a stellar round of 71, followed by Lee Gardner with a 74 and Rich Saks with an incredible 75, net 62. Also breaking 80 were Steve Wolter and Mark Schreindl shooting 78 and Corey Mader with a 79. Skins are listed below. Great playing to all!

As a side note, to complete the results, I entered hole scores of 9 for any holes that were not able to be completed. These are not the totals that got posted for handicap purposes. Mark Cuthbert went back and adjusted those holes to be net pars and then posted the resulting total scores. Thanks to John Dobroski and Steve Wolter for helping with the scoring and skins and to Mark Cuthbert for manually posting the scores. The next club event is at Old Hickory July 21st.

Skins $25ea.

Rich Saks #3
Gerry McGrath #8
Dan Webb #9
Steve Wolter #13
Steve Amble #17

Club Event at Scenic View - Results

Currie National Grinders,

Although somewhat blustery, we did escape the rain forecast and by current standards, we actually had a pretty nice day to play golf.  I had never played Scenic View and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and the quality of the course.  It was a challenging, but fair layout, and a lot of fun to play.  This was a team event, however, I do need to highlight some very impressive individual scores.  Lee Gardner turned in a 74, Steve Wolter and Chris Glinski shot 76, John Dobroski with a 78, and Steve Jaeger shot 79.  Great playing guys!  The winners and payouts in the team event are detailed below in addition to the skins winners.  Congrats to all!

Second Team at Currie - Results

Gentlemen –

The Currie Second Team romped at the National today, winning the event with an excellent total of 277 points.  Greenfield was a distant 2nd with 210 points and Dretzka took 3rd with 192.  Fourteen of our 16 players won 13 or more points.  Leading the way were Doug Bowring and Mark Cuthbert with 24 each, Steve Jaeger with 23, Steve Amble with 22, and Rich Saks with 21.  Jaeger was our medalist with an 80.  Doug Bowring shot 81, and Saks and Gerry McGrath 82.

The highlight of the day was a hole in one by Vince Vitrano of the Oakwood club on hole number 8.  A couple of dull-witted guys, including our own Jessie Alba, failed a basic intelligence test by putting their name on the closest to the pin flag on that hole below Vince’s name.  ðŸ˜Š

Two of our guys took skins, Amble with birdie on 8 (Hi handicap flight) and Billy Z with birdie on 17.

We have now won all 3 of this season’s events with just 1 more to go, that on August 31 at the Green Monster.  We have a rather commanding lead of 143 points over second place Brown Deer on the season.  It would be easy to be complacent going into that match, but we won’t be.

For the total point award for the season we have 4 players leading with between 55 and 58 points, Jaeger, Phil Levin, yours truly, and Bowring.  It will be an exciting finish at the goat ranch.

The usual summaries are listed below.

Please remember to post your scores.  That will not be done for you.

Thanks to everyone who came out to play today, and to Director Pederson for all the work he does for these matches.  Thanks also go to Scott Walecki for keeping everything running smoothly, and for handling the scoring duties flawlessly.

See ya,

Jack
