Second Team at Brown Deer - Results

Gentlemen –

The Currie Second Team gave me a nice birthday gift today, winning the opening event at Brown Deer and inserting ourselves in our accustomed position atop the standings with 3 matches left to play this summer.  We had a nice sunny warm day, but it was cart path only for the riders, and lift, clean, and place in the general area, both of which contributed to a long slow 6-hour slog through the wet grounds.  Nevertheless, we persevered and took 230 points, 12 ahead of second place Greenfield, and 20 ahead of 3rd place Brown Deer.

Our leading point winners were Steve Jaeger and Darrell Frenzel with 24 each, Harry Markos with 23,  and yours truly with 21.  Eleven of our 16 players took over half their points.  Jaeger led our scoring with a nice 80, a full 6 shots less than our next lowest, 86 by both Steve Amble and Jeff Kapp.

Individual prizes were taken by Jaeger for closest in 2 on number 9, and Amble for a skin on the 18th.  The usual summaries are listed below.

So, in summary, it was a very good start to the season, and we took a good first step toward winning our 9th title in the last 11 years.

Our next match will be on Saturday, June 8 at Dretzka.  I will start scrounging up a team in about a week.

Please remember to post your scores.  That will not be done for you.

Thanks to everyone who came out to play today, and to Director Pederson for all the work he does for these matches, and to Dan Webb for coming out to support the team.

See ya,

Jack

Club Event at Currie National - Results

Currie National Members,

Unlike last weekend, Saturday was a beautiful day to play golf and enjoy our first event of the season.  With all the rain we've had, the course was quite soft and played long, even from the white tees.  The 2 Man Best Ball format provided some pretty keen competition and I hope everybody had fun with that. Interestingly, had 3 new members cash in on the prize money, Bryan Dominick, Steve Satula, and Bryan Olen.  I mistakenly announced that we were paying off 3 places, when in actuality, in this format we pay off 5 spots.  Sorry about that.  Special shout outs to Lee Gardner for a stellar gross 69 and to John Dobroski for a hole out eagle on #17 and Larry Dake for a hole out eagle on # 11.  Below are the results and payouts.  Reminder- Our next club event is Sunday, May 26th at Fire Ridge.  Please sign up by May 20th.  Also thanks to Scott Walecki and Marcus Suelflow for doing a great job helping with this event.  We appreciate it.
