MCPLA Team Match at Brown Deer Park Golf Course - Results

Gentlemen –

In very tough conditions at Brown Deer today, the Currie men slogged their way through the rain, wind, and cold to take an incredible 163 points, winning the event by 7 points over Greenfield.  Oakwood was a distant third with 109 points.  We now reside in our rightful position of first place for the season with 288 points, 6 ahead of Greenfield.  Oakwood is in third way back with 220.

 

Nine of  our 12 guys scored 11 or more points today and the 3 who didn’t took 9 each.  Mark Cuthbert and Jeff Camosy led the effort with 18 points apiece, our team captain one back with 17.  Dominic Carini was our medalist with 82, Cuthbert just one back with 83.  Doug Bowring took a skin with a birdie on hole 5.  Mark Cuthbert took closest to the pin on 14. 

 

There were some computer scoring  issues today, delaying the results as new Director Tony P acclimates himself to the job.  Thankfully, our own Brian Pederson stepped in to take charge in Tony’s absence, manually entering scores, and making sure everything was copacetic.  Thanks very much to Brian for that.

 

Also, thanks to everyone who came out and played today.  It was not an easy round of golf, yet all of us stuck it out in fine fashion.

MCPLA Spring Championship at Greenfield Park Golf Course - Results

Greenfield Park proved to be a good test under ideal conditions this past Sunday. The course was in great shape!! My HUGE thanks to James Grogan and his staff. They made everything from the setup to the finish run smoothly. Big props to the Course Superintendent for getting the greens in good shape after aerating them several weeks ago. Thank you to Glen Jaeger for being the greatest starter. He runs a good tee and does a great job of keeping us on time. Thanks also to Jay Anosov for coming out and running the scoreboard with the help from Glen Barkow and others. Also a big thanks to the injured Rich Saks for coming out in his walking boot to help keep pace. Without help like this, my job would be much tougher.

It appears that we are still learning the software program as the scores did not post even though the program said it did! Please post your score as a C score from the correct tees.

We will be discussing whether to go back to a 36 hole format (my preference) or not at the September MCPLA meeting. Please make your delegate aware of your preference so we can have a good discussion of this topic.

I was very pleased to see new faces in this tournament. I hope everyone had a good time and will consider playing in the next 2 events this year.

MCPLA 2 MAN BEST BALL CHAMPIONSHIP---Sunday. July 16th at Dretzka Park. This tournament has sold out the past 2 years so get your entries in early!!! Low Gross and Low Net awards in this tournament.

ARNOLD WALKER MILWAUKEE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP---Sat & Sun, August 26-27 at Brown Deer Park. This is the premiere tournament in Milwaukee County with WSGA Player of the Year points awarded for top finishers.
