Second Team Results at Whitnall 6/4/17

Gentlemen –

The Currie Second Team had another solid day today at Whitnall, winning the event with 224 points to Whitnall’ s 209.  Oakwood was 3^rd with 202.  We began the day with a 29 point lead over second place Greenfield, and we ended the day with a nice 63 point lead over second place Whitnall.  Grant is in third place, 70 points behind us, Brown Deer is 72 behind us, and Greenfield fell to 5^th place, 90 points behind us. 

Five players took over 20 points, Bill Zolandz leading the way with 24.  Rick Saks, Kenny Collins, and yours truly grabbed 23 each, and Darrell Frenzel chipped in with 21.  Mike O’Neil was our medalist with 76.  Collins shot 77, and Saks 80.

Pete Lapp took longest putt on number 11, and Phil Levin and Steve Amble took skins with birdies on 10 and 2 respectively. 

The day was enhanced considerably after the golf when Frenzel won the first 2 flips, then O’Neil grabbed the next two.  It doesn’t get much better than that.  Lucky for them the Hamm’s beer was only 2 bucks a can.

Next up is Oakwood on June 25^th.  We will start at 6:00 AM with the high handicappers going first.

First Team at Oakwood Results

Here are the results from our match yesterday at Oakwood. Thank you all for gutting out the 2 hour rain delay and coming through with another good showing for team Currie. We finished in 3rd place with 106 points behind Greenfield with 140 and Oakwood with 107. For the season we are in 4th place, but only 9 points behind Oakwood and only 20 behind Greenfield and Whitnall. With one great performance we could be in serious contention for the top spots. Congrats to Ken Collins, doing his part to make 1st team great again by getting all 18 points with a stellar 74. Also congrats to Jed Kennedy for getting a skin with an eagle 3 on #11.

Again, I appreciate all of you who participated and came through with a successful team effort. Our next match is at Greenfield on July 15th. The Currie match originally scheduled for June 16th was moved to September 23rd so it wouldn't interfere with the U.S. Open or Father's Day. If you know that you will be able to make the match at Greenfield let me know.

First Team at Dretzka Results

Thank all of you for participating and making my captains debut quite a successful showing.  I know it wasn't easy for all of you to commit to playing on mother's day so I really appreciate the effort. We finished 3rd with 104 points behind Whitnall with 133 and Oakwood with 112.  It was a difficult scoring day as the course played long and the rough was pretty thick.  I think we all hung in there tough and got all the points we could possibly get.  Definitely a nice start to the season!
