Second Team at Greenfield - Results
Gentlemen –
The Currie Second Team took care of business today out at Greenfield, winning the event and holding onto first place for the season, thus winning our 8th championship in the last 10 years. On a difficult day with sporadic rain showers, we took 229 points, beating second place Dretzka by 23. For the season we finished with 1121 points, 68 more than second place Whitnall. Along the way we won 3 of the 5 events, including the last 2, at Currie and Greenfield, to surge from 46 points down to the top of the heap at the end.
Four players nabbed over 20 points today, Rick Binder and Gary Zwirlein leading with all 24. Your redoubtable captain took 22, and Ken Collins, with a nice 73, took 21. Phil Levin joined Kenny on the honor score list with 79, and Binder was right behind with 81. For the individual awards, Collins took a skin with a birdie on the 17th, Doug Bowring took another with birdie on 11, and yours truly took the flag for closest in 2 on the 16th.
Zwirlein was our points leader for the season winning 90 points in the 5 matches, an average of 18. The oldest guy in the club took second place with 83, and Rich Saks took 3rd with 71, playing only 4 of the 5 matches. Thirty two members participated on the season, with an average points per match per man of 14.0. Thanks to all of you.
Thanks also go to Brian Waldera today for sticking around and handling the scoreboard duties and also to Director Pederson for running the whole thing all season long. And finally thanks to whoever it was that purchased and placed beer before me like magic several times today. I was forced to consume 4 or 5 of them.
Once again, it was my pleasure to captain a great bunch of guys.
Thanks,
Jack
