For the second year in a row, rain wreaked havoc on Sunday’s round, this year forcing the cancelation of the round. Grant Park proved to be a good test for all golfers as scores were generally higher than imagined. Thank you go out to Course Professional Dave Labinski and Superintendent Brian Danko for their good work in preparing the course for the weekend despite the crazy pandemic going on. I would also like to thank Glen Jaeger for his expert skills as a starter. He kept play right on pace and has done so for many years now. I would also like to thank John Haeflinger and Rich Luczkowski for their scoring expertise. Thanks also go out to on-course spotters Jack Fleming and Bob Greszewski. Their help kept pace of play to an acceptable level. We had 77 entries this year, a nice increase from the last 2 years. The results from the Tournament are as follows:

Club Event Washington County Golf Course - Results
Washington County Competitors,
Displayed below are the results from Saturday's individual net flighted competition and skins. Nice playing to all the victors. As per usual, the wind kicked up in defense of Washington County's sweeping layout. In spite of these blustery conditions, there were some outstanding scores turned in.
Most Notable Highlights:
1) Chuck Silkey and Lee Gardner both shot gross 76. Chuck's round included 4 birdies, 1 on the front and 3 on the back.
2) Brian Pederson led the net category with a stellar of 69, gross 80 to win the A Flight.
3) Doug Bowring, wearing one of his better looking flamboyant outfits, shot a very credible gross 82, net 70, tying Bryan Olen for top spot in the net B Flight.
4) Thanks to Dan Webb for helping out collecting the greens fees and skins money. Heal up quickly, Dan, from your leg injury so you can resume chopping with the rest of the chops!

Club Event at Deertrak Golf Club - Results
Currie Competitors,
I heard a lot of positive comments about the course today and I think most of us were pleasantly surprised by the nice layout and good conditions at Deertrak. It's definitely worthy of a return visit. We were paying out the top 3 teams today and interestingly we had 3 teams tie for the top spot at 18 under par. Teams, Cuthbert/Satula/Mader/Sauceda, Bruss/Olen/Wolter/Bowring, Levin/Boulware/Cristan/Alba will each get $80 per team or $20 per man.
Other highlights for the day included a sparkling round by Corey Mader firing a 35-37, 72 which began with 3 birdies. Jake Boulware turned in a 79 which also included 3 birdies in row (#'s 4, 5, and 6) and nearly missing a 4th on #7. Jesse Alba shot an exceptional 82 gross, net 63! Way to golf your ball, Jesse.
8 skins of $12ea. were won by Mader, 3 skins, Boulware 3 skins, Wolter 1 skin, and Sauceda 1 skin.
Thanks to all who participated. Hope you had fun. Thanks to Mark Cuthbert for assisting with the scoring and skins.

Second Team at Greenfield - Results
Gentlemen –
The Currie Second Team took care of business today out at Greenfield, not quite winning the event, but maintaining our large season point lead, thus winning the title for our 9th championship in the last 11 years. The weather was great, and the goat ranch was in excellent shape with fast greens and some very tough pins. Oakwood won the event with 229 points, Whitnall was second with 214, and we were 3rd with 207. For the year we took 952 points, and Whitnall was a distant second with 807. Brown Deer finished in third place with 801.
Four players nabbed over 20 points today, Rich Saks taking all 24, Brian Pederson and Jeff Camosy winning 22 each, and Gerry McGrath grabbing 21. Saks and Pederson had the rounds of the day for us, 76 and 77 respectively.
Individual awards go to Camosy for a skin on 5, McGrath for a skin on 17, and yours truly for longest putt on 18.
Phil Levin was our points leader for the season winning 72 points in the 4 matches, an average of 18. Saks was second with 68 points, and Bill Zolandz and Camosy tied for 3rd with 65. Twenty five members participated on the season, with an average points per match per man of 14.9. Thanks to all of you.
Thanks also go to Saks, Zolandz, and Pederson for handling all the scoreboard duties today in the absence of Greenfield personnel to do so.
The usual summaries are listed below.
Once again, it was my pleasure to captain a great bunch of guys.
I’ll see many of you at the Currie Cup tomorrow where the old guys will school the youngsters.
Thanks,
Jack
