Message from the Club President

Men of Currie!

I am writing to you at what is roughly the halfway mark of our club’s golf season. I hope that thus far everyone has been enjoying themselves, and that the various club events have provided you an ample opportunity to satisfy your desire to play golf that is both competitive and great fun.

As of this writing there are a few remaining events that I wish to highlight, although I’ll quickly add that I’d like to promote all of the events on our calendar.

Firstly, we have a Challenge Match coming up on August 1st at Hon-E-Kor golf course in beautiful Kewaskum. For those that have yet to play this 27-hole layout, it features a number of sporty holes and the greens are fast and undulating. We have a limited number of spots available, and only 13 remain. This event is capped at 24 participants, so if you plan to play for Currie’s honor, please sign up ASAP.

Secondly, our Club Championship is coming up on August 8th – 9th. Once again, Jeff Camosy and I will team with Scott Walecki to make certain that this will be as stern a test as the National can offer, complete with some of the tougher pins this side of Chambers Bay. Please make sure to sign up as soon as you can, as this event always has heavy participation from our members.

Thirdly, our intra-club competition is coming up in 2 short months on September 6th. Known as the Currie Cup, this event is a 36-hole version of the club’s civil war, where we pick up teams amongst our members and then go at it for bragging rights. If you haven’t played in this event before, or if it’s been a few years since you have, please make sure to sign up as this is one of the best days of the year on our club calendar.

Lastly, the final weekend of September features 2 separate events at really great courses. Saturday the 26th is at Mascoutin & then Sunday the 27th is at Whispering Springs, both outstanding layouts and well-conditioned courses. Please look at your calendar and consider adding one or both of these events to your golfing schedule. September golf in Wisconsin can provide some of the best conditions we play in all year.

That’s it for now. Look forward to seeing everyone at all our club events, plus the various WPLA, WSGA & MCPLA events where the Men of Currie invariably have a significant presence on the tournament leaderboards as well as the clubhouse bar!!

Play Well.

Mark
