Club Event at Currie Park Golf Course - Results

Hello Currie boys,

It was a beautiful day at Currie Park and the course was in great shape considering parts of it were under 6 ft of water a couple months ago!! The greens were great with some tough pin placements and the rough was thick and long, which I think contributed to some slow play. I know it slowed our group up at times and the format can make it slow down too, especially for those who have not played it before!!

We, and I mean the officers, forgot to make it a shotgun start also, which might have contributed to the slow play!! And we are working on booking the meeting room too!! But all in all a great day!!

One Man Scramble Winners for the day.....

In A flight Chuck Silkey shot a fabulous round of 63!! Beating Corey Mader and Kurt Beronja by 6 shots!!

In B flight we had a 3-way tie. Tom Condella, Pete Tarantino and Rufus Evans all shot 74. Congrats boys!!

In C flight Gary Zwirlein shot 76, Jackie Wu shot 77 and Bill Zolandz shot 78. Great job fellas!!

A little side note, Mike Zande, a future CPMC member, I hope!! Shot a fine 66 in the one-man scramble format yesterday. Hopefully his 2 rounds with us have him convinced to join our club next year!!

A thank you goes to Brian Pederson for helping me with scoring and to all of you who have helped me with that throughout the year!!! It is a big help!!

A big THANK YOU to Corey Mader for his dedication for 9 years to running the TOC events!!! Thanks from all of us!!!

And welcome in Jim Sauceda, who has volunteered to take over TOC events!! Thanks Sauce!!!

And one more thank you goes out to our 3 other officers who without them all these events never happen!! We collaborate more than you boys know!!!

Another great year for CPMC!!!

Last thing, I have money for Camosy and Corion Jones. I have a plaque for Ben Sevener and a county gift card for Dominic Carini. Just so you boys know!!

Good day gents,

Steve Wolter

Currie / Hon-E-Kor Challenge at Hon-E-Kor Golf & Country Club - Results

Hello fellas,

Well, it was a gorgeous day out in Kewaskum on Saturday!! We hung in there for the first 2 events, 2 Man Best Bell and 2 Man Scramble. We tied the best ball event 4 to 4 and we lost the scramble event 4 ½ to 3 1/2. So, we were not in bad shape going into the singles event. But then the bottom fell out!!! Final score was 20 ½ to 11 ½. A great event and lots of fun and banter going on amongst the players!!

There were not many highlights but Steve Wolter won 2 1/2 of his possible 3 points to get and Johnny Torch and Jake Boulware both got 2 out of their possible 3 points!!

After 12 years (events), Hon-E-Kor now leads Currie in this Challenge 9 - 3.

Thats it for now,

Steve Wolter
CPMC VP

Club Event at New Berlin Hills Golf Course - Results

 Hello boys,

The forecast did not look good most of the week, but we had a pretty nice day. Course was a tad wet, but overall in very good shape.

Some very nice rounds were played yesterday. Gary Fenzl shot 73, Kurt Beronja had 78 and Chuck Silkey shot 79.

2 players shot under par net. Ryan Thompson and Gary Fenzl were both at 2 under par!!

We had a guest playing with us yesterday, I'm hoping a future CPMC member, Mike Zande played very well and shot a 75!!

The event was a 2-Man 1 Net Best Ball competition. It was won by the team of Gerry McGrath and Steve Jaeger at 6 under par. They will split $80.

There was a tie for 2nd place. The team of Doug Schafer and Jeff Brandt and the team of Ryan Thompson and Kurt Beronja each shot -5 and each player will get $25.

4th place and getting $15 each at -4 was the team of Nathan Valentine and Tom Condella.

There was tie for 5th place. The team of Bob Kettler and Chuck Silkey and the team of Rick Binder and Gary Fenzl each shot -3 and each player will get $5 each.

There were 7 skins. Gary Fenzl had 2 and Silkey, Valentine, Hirsch, Zande and Jeff Brandt each had one skin.

Congrats to all and good playing!!

MCPLA Wins 50th Anniversary Challenge Match vs. NIMAGA (Northern Illinois Municipal Area Golf Assn.) --- In his first year at the helm, on Sept. 20, Captain Doug Wruck led our MCPLA squad to a solid 52-44 victory over the challengers from Illinois at the Fox Lake Country Club in Fox Lake Illinois. MCPLA now leads this venerable challenge match series 27-20-2. Thanks to Doug for his leadership and time in putting together a successful, well-organized, and enjoyable event.

MCPLA Team Match at Greenfield Park Golf Course - Results

Gentlemen –

The official results are in, we finished 7 points out of first place for the season, behind 2025 champion, Whitnall. Greenfield was 6 points out in second place, while we were in third. The weather did us no favors, as a quickie count of players benefiting from having no opponents showed Whitnall having 12 such occurrences, Greenfield 10, and Currie just 8. We couldn’t overcome the poor luck of the draw. Just the way it was. Whitnall had a great season and congratulations to them for taking their first championship since 1984.

Dominic Carini led us on Sunday, grabbing 17 points. Darrell Frenzel took 14, Jim Sauceda 13, and Steve Jaeger 12. Jaeger and Carini were our medalists with 78. Mark Cuthbert shot 79. Carini took 2 individual awards, a skin for birdie on the 4th hole, and lonest putt on the 2nd. For the season, our top point man was Steve Jaeger with 66. Sauce gathered 61, Frenzel 54, and Doug Bowring 49.

Once again, thanks to all who played for and supported the team this year. This was my 17th season as captain, and it’s been a joy the whole time.

Best Regards,
Jack
