Second Team at Dretzka Park Golf Course - Results

Gentlemen -

It was a tough day for the Currie team today. We took just 97 points, our lowest of the year by far, finishing in 6th place among the 7 teams. Greenfield won with 134 points, and Dretzka took second with 126. On the bright side, our rather commanding lead of 48 points going into the match, shrunk by just 6 points. We now lead Grant by 42 points, Oakwood by 50, and Greenfield by 71 with just one match to go, in 2 weeks at Brown Deer.

Tom Condella was our point leader getting 15 of the 18 possible. Darrel Frenzel took 13, Gary Zwirlein and Rich Saks 12, and Steve Amble 11. Condella and Saks were our medalists with 82. Condella took the closest to the pin award on 13 and Ullenberg took longest drive on 15. I don’t have the skins report yet, and will send that out later when I receive it.

Scott Walecki did his usual sterling job running the show at the course, which was in wonderful shape. Thanks also go to Director Pederson for keeping things going smoothly.

Remember to post your own scores, as they won’t be posted for you.

Thanks,

Jack

Club Event at Koshkonong Mounds Country Club - Results

Koshkonong Mounds Event Participants,

I think "Mounds" would be an appropriate way to describe the greens at Koshkonong Mounds Country Club. Particularly, the first 3 or 4 holes definitely got your attention if you weren't ready for challenging greens and pin placements. They certainly got my attention. All in all I thought the course was an interesting challenge and generally in nice shape. Skillfully negotiating the greens was a make or break for good scoring. We had a tie for first place in the Net A Flight with Harry Markos and Jake Boulware both shooting 2 under par, 69's. Brian Pederson was next with a 1 under 70. In the Net B Flight Gary Zwirlein was at the top with a 1 under 70. All tied at one over 72 were Steve Amble, Rich Saks and Darrell Frenzel, Nice playing guys!! I should also note that Jake Boulware was the gross score medalist with a very fine 77. Sweeet!!

Skins of $26 were won by Corey Mader #16, Steve Wolter #6, Doug Schafer #12, and Dave Ullenberg #13. A special shout out goes to Doug Shafer who cashed in with his first skin in a Currie Men's Club event. Congrats, Doug. There will be many more to come. Flight Payouts are listed below:

Hope y'all had fun,

Phil.

Club Event at The Club at Lac La Belle - Results

Lac La Belle Survivors,

It was another beautiful, hot, humid, summer day for our event today at The Golf Club of Lac La Belle. I hope that all our members and guests had a great time. I heard a lot of mixed reviews on the golf course layout and conditions. My personal viewpoint was that I was impressed by the dramatic layout and enjoyed the experience overall. I did think that the pin placements pushed the envelope a bit, even at what were relatively slow greens. The course routing gave you some intimidating looks off the tee and into the greens and left you guessing at times on exactly where you could or could not hit the ball. Playing it a second time would definitely be a more comfortable experience.

There were some fine performances turned in, led by team Brian Pederson and Chris Brock, combining to win the best ball competition at 8 under par. Skins of $20ea. were won by Jake Boulware #1 and 16, Jesse Alba #3, Brian Pederson #5, Eric Gitter #8, Scott Brandt #12, and Jack Bruss #14. The winning teams and payouts are listed below. Congrats! Thanks to Brian Pederson for helping out with the scoring and skin payouts...much appreciated.

MCPLA 3rd Annual 2 Man Best Ball Championship at Currie Park Golf Course

This year just continues to be a challenge. For the 2nd straight MCPLA Tournament, the weather made it interesting. Heavy rain made it necessary to play musical carts making everyone walk the 17th hole. My thanks to Bob Gerszewski for helping me shuttle carts to the 18th tee. My thanks goes out to Glen Jaeger for his expertise in keeping the 1st tee running smoothly. Many, many thanks go out to PGA Professional Scott Walecki and his assistant Ben. They did an incredible job of getting the course ready to play. They were also great in keeping the scoring up-to-date and getting the playoffs off and running. We had a record field this year that resulted in a playoff for both divisions. I will be mailing out the gift cards soon. Currie was challenging with the wind adding to the challenge. My day continued to be strange by finishing it by chasing down and stopping 2 kids trying to steal a golf cart!!! You should have seen the look in their eyes when this old big guy stopped them!!! Please remember to post your scores on the WSGA website.
