Currie Park Men's Golf Club: HARTFORD EVENT - REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING!

Currie Men,
We have 40 spots and only 18 registered so far for the Hartford Event - Individual Stroke Play (NET) on 6/21/2014.
  •     The registration deadline is this coming Monday (6/16) at 5pm.
  •     The first tee time is 9:00 am
  •      Format: Individual Stroke Play – NET
  •     Tee Box: PLAYERS CHOICE! (the base tees in Blue Golf will be set as the Whites and anyone opting to play a different set of tees will have their handicaps adjusted automatically by Blue Golf via the USGA calculation for this…All stoke play – NET results calculated by BlueGolf are final).
  •     A Skins (Gross) game will be offered

Notable Notes
  •     The skins game is a side bet and is optional for an additional $5/player (it’s not a Currie Club sanctioned event and will be paid out immediately following the round of golf)
  •     The tee box for this event is Players Choice so NO COMPLAINING if you get a birdie from the Blue and it’s cut with a birdie from the Whites for example….please know this before you sign up for the skins game.

Thanks
Jeff

Currie Sanctioned Events To Be Entered As T-Scores

Currie Men,
WSGA handicap reps presented at the MCPLA monthly meeting on 6/3/2014. Mark, Bill, Jack, Dan, Brian and others were present. John Haeflinger, MCPLA president, has charged officers from all county clubs with assisting him in making sure all clubs enter scores as T-scores in a similar manner going into the 2015 golf season. There is often some grey areas where T-scores are concerned and this effort is meant to limit the risk of a wide variation in how different clubs are making the decision to enter scores.

To ensure we’re doing things uniformly across all of our (Currie) members and so we can inform Mr. Heflinger how Currie is doing it any scores entered for Currie sanctioned events via BlueGolf will be entered as T-scores. Any exceptions to this rule will need to come from our own golf committee or in the form of a directive from the MCPLA.

Thanks

Jeff (VP and Tournament Director)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING! First Tour-of-the-County (TOC) Event at Oakwood

Event Date: 5/24
Registration Deadline: 5/12 at 5pm

----- For those not signed up for the TOC series but wishing to do so -----

Please inform Steve Amble or any of the club offices that you are interested in participating in this event series. You will need to pay a $50 entry fee. Greens fees do need to be paid for each event, the entry fee is used to pay out winnings at the end of the season.

----- What is TOC? -----

It's your best 4 of 7 rounds based on how you perform in relation to an assigned target score calculated with your handicap index. You can chose what tee box you play from and often get another stroke or two for doing so. It's a fun series!!

Thanks

Jeff (on behalf of Steve Amble - TOC Director)

Second Team Opens Chase for 6th Straight with 3rd place Finish at Brown Deer

Our Second team had a workmanlike day at Brown Deer Saturday, finishing third in the event behind Brown Deer and Greenfield.  It was a tough day with soft wet fairways, no roll, high winds and cool temperatures, although it warmed near the end.  We played lift, clean, and place through the green, which helped, but still it was a tough day to tackle the course.  Brown Deer won the event with 251 points, Greenfield was next with 239, and we took third with 213.  Whitnall took 200 points, and Dretzka, Grant, and Oakwood all finished with 158 or less.  Ten of our guys took 12 or more points, Brian Pederson and Darrell Frenzel leading the way with 22.  Jeff, “I go low everywhere”, Camosy took 20, and Doug Bowring and Steve Jaeger took 19 each.  Mike O’Neil was our medalist with 81, taking 18 points.

O’Neil, Bowring, and Jaeger won skins on holes 3, 7, and 10 respectively.

A summary of the results is listed below.  Last year at this point in the proceedings we found ourselves in 5th place 67 points behind Grant and 60 behind Brown Deer, so I would say right now we have everyone just about where we want them.

Next up is Grant in just 3 weeks on May 25.  If you like your chances on that track, and you'd like to play, let me know.

Jack
