Gentlemen –
We lost a little ground yesterday at Dretzka. Brown Deer won the event with 219 points and we finished 5th with 197. So, for the season we slipped to second place, just 13 points behind Brown Deer. Grant is nipping at our heels in 3rd place, just 10 behind us, and Whitnall is just 10 more behind them. When you consider that there are 384 points up for grabs each week for each team, and that after 3 events into the season only 13 points separates us from first place, it highlights the importance of each player each week grinding for each and every point they can.
Five of our players took 20 or more points yesterday, with Bill Zolandz, Rich Saks, and this humble correspondent all taking the max 24. Medalists for the team were Darrell Frenzel and Phil Levin with 79. Saks and yours truly were 2 back at 81. Frenzel won a skin for a birdie on the 10th hole.
Although we fell to second place in the season standings, I believe we won the after match award for loudest group on the premises, as usual. It was a great day weather wise, the course was in good shape, and a bunch of us had a pretty good time while helping out the Dretzka economy.
The dogfight continues with our fourth and second last match at Whitnall in just 3 weeks on Saturday, July 27. If you have reason to be confident of your game and/or ability to do well there, let me know. I’ll be recruiting for that match shortly.
