Please make sure you post your scores on the WSGA site, and enter
them as a “T” score each day.
Absolutely incredible weather and from all accounts, the best condition that Brown Deer has
ever been in!!!! These are the comments I heard over and over again from so many competitors.
I want to thank PGA Professional Andy Barrett, Course Superintendent Tim Wegner and both of
their staff for the outstanding conditions and organization that makes this tournament a true
pleasure to run. Thanks also go out to starter Glen Jaeger, scorer Jay Anosov, and marshall
Bob Albrightson. These guys help make a big job manageable.
Congratulations go out to the 2019 Milwaukee County Champion Michael Harris. His
spectacular 68 on Sunday led him to victory. Congratulations also go out to A Flight winner
Dominic Carini, B Flight winner in a playoff Vince Vitrano, and C Flight winner Jeff Camosy.
Trophies were awarded to each of the above winners. All of the below listed winners will have
their winnings place on account under your name on the computer and is accessible at any of
the County Golf Courses. Andy Barrett assures us that this is the easiest system with no chance
of any gift cards being lost!!

Club Championship Results
The 2019 Currie Men's Club Championship is in the books. Although we did have about a 90 minute weather delay this morning and a bit of a breeze today, the course setup and generally mild conditions brought out the best of the best in each flight. The C flight was won by our club Secretary, the ever improving Bill Zolandz. At the top of the B Flight was Rich Saks, one of the clubs grittiest competitors, winning the flight by 7 shots. Taking 1st in the A Flight was Dominic Carini putting together consistent stellar rounds of 74 and 78. Saving the best for last, our 2019 Club Champion is Lee Gardner. This is the 5th time Lee has won the Club Championship. This year might be his most impressive victory posting 2 under par and lapping the field by 10 shots. Congratulations to the winners and to the other top performers in each flight. We are paying out the top 4 spots. Skins results are available on the web event page and have been paid by Scott and Marcus. A summary of the flight results follow. A big thanks to Head Pro Scott Walecki and assistant Marcus Suelflow for making this an enjoyable and successful weekend for all the competitors. We appreciate it.

Club Event at Ives Grove Golf Links - Results
All Currie National Competitors and Ives Grove Participants,
On my way to the course this morning I was fantasizing about the prospects for a hole in one. I did indeed get one, but unfortunately it was before I got to the course...a hole in one tire! Thanks to everybody for helping me get back on the road after the round. You guys are the best. Thank you Jeff Camosy and Bill Zolandz for taking over the scoring duties. I appreciate that.
First place honors go to the duo of Bernie Mattheis and Brad Romanowski at -15, $50ea. Great performance guys. Nice to see new names at the top. In second place at -12 were Jeff Camosy and Bryan Olen, $30ea. Tied for third at -9 were teams Brandt/Collins, Jaeger/Zolandz, and Baker/Gardner, $15ea. Low gross scores were posted by Lee Gardner 71, Ken Collins 74, Chris Glinski 75, and Steve Wolter 79.
$10 Skins were won by Ken Collins, getting 3 skins, Lee Gardner 2, and Steve Wolter, Brian Pederson, Chris Glinski, and myself all getting 1.
I hope everybody had fun. See you all at the Club Championship.

Club Event at Edgewood (Oaks) Golf Course - Results
Edgewood Combatants,
Pleasantly the $48 fee that I was quoted Friday afternoon was incorrect and we actually wound up paying only $37. The best was saved for last as the final foursome of the day won this Irish 4 Ball event. The winners were team Cristan/Hirsch/Schreindl/Schreindl at -17, each getting $30. In 2nd place was team Camosy/Collins/Jaeger/Pederson -12, $20Ea. and in 3rd place was team Condella/Fossett/Glinski/Wolter -10, $10ea. Very impressive playing to the winners.
Honorable mentions go out to Dave Ullenberg with a gross 74, Eric Schreindl 77 and Lee Gardner 78. Net scores of note were Jeff Camosy with a 67, Scott Brandt shooting a 68 and Tom Condella with a 69. On a roll with some recent exceptional play is Dick Baker with a net 70 including deuces on #'s 11 and 14 and a net score of 32 on the back 9. Way to go Richard!!
Skins of $17 ea. were won by Eric Schreindl #3, Brian Pederson #'s 7 and 16, Tom Condella #8, Jim Fossett #10, Lee Gardner #12, and Steve Jaeger #15.
Thanks to Gerry McGrath for helping out with the score-keeping after the round. Appreciate that.

Club Event at Currie Park Golf Course - Results
Currie Event Participants,
Well "The National" held its own today with some pretty tough pin placements and rough that was a little tricky to negotiate if you got off the fairway. It certainly was a great test as a warm up for our Club Championship coming up August 17th and 18th. The A Flight was won by Steve Jaeger with a net score of -3, 68 ($50). In 2nd place was Larry Dake at -2, 69 ($30) and in 3rd was Scott Brandt at -1, 70 ($20). The B Flight was won by John Hirsch with a net score of -5, 66 ($50). Gary Zwirlein was 2nd with a net -4, 67 ($30) and Steve Amble and Dick Baker tied for 3rd at -3, 68 ($10ea.) Gross honor scores were turned in by Larry Dake with a 77 and Steve Jaeger shooting 78. Nice playing to all the winners!
Skins of $46ea. were won by Jack Bruss #2, Steve Wolter #7 and Steve Jaeger #8...Say What??, 1 Birdie on #8!! Go figure.
Thanks to Head Pro, Scott Walecki and Assistant, Marcus Suelflow for handling all the scoring and administrative duties. Great job and very much appreciated.

Club Event at Old Hickory Golf Club - Results
Currie Champion Golfers,
We certainly had a beautiful day to play golf today. In spite of that, the scoring was a little higher than we're use to seeing. Make no mistake, this is a difficult course that played long and put a premium on keeping it in the short grass. In addition, the greens are challenging, even though I thought the pins were in very fair positions. That being said, there were some very admirable performances turned in. In the A Flight, Mark Cuthbert and Brian Pederson were medalist's both shooting gross 83, -2 net ($40ea.). Steve Wolter and Rich Saks shared 3rd place at +5 ($10 ea.). In the B Flight, Brian Olen and Matt Clark tied for 1st at Even Par ($40 ea.) and Steve Satula finished in solo 3rd at +1 ($20). Nice playing to all the winners!
There were 7 Skins at $13 ea. Steve Wolter with 2 skins on holes #9 and #18, Corey Mader #6, Brian Pederson #8, Bryan Dominick #12, Bryan Olen #16, and Mark Cuthbert #17.
Thanks again to Steve Wolter for helping out with the scoring and skins. Much appreciated. I hope everybody had fun.

Club Event at Fairways of Woodside - Results
Currie Grinders and Mudders,
It was a bit of a challenging day at, as I sometimes like to call it, The "Unfair Ways" of Woodside. We started off with a nice, hot, humid day that eventually turned into about a 2 hour rain delay for the last 5 groups. In spite of the delay there was some very impressive golf played. Lee Gardner and Rich Saks won the event at -12, $50ea. Steve Amble and Jessie Weathersby were 2nd at -10, $30ea. Bryan Olen/Jim Sauceda and Mark/Eric Schreindl all tied for 3rd at -9, $17.50ea. In 5th place was Corey Mader with a blind draw as his partner at -8, $10. Individual medalist was John Dobroski with a stellar round of 71, followed by Lee Gardner with a 74 and Rich Saks with an incredible 75, net 62. Also breaking 80 were Steve Wolter and Mark Schreindl shooting 78 and Corey Mader with a 79. Skins are listed below. Great playing to all!
As a side note, to complete the results, I entered hole scores of 9 for any holes that were not able to be completed. These are not the totals that got posted for handicap purposes. Mark Cuthbert went back and adjusted those holes to be net pars and then posted the resulting total scores. Thanks to John Dobroski and Steve Wolter for helping with the scoring and skins and to Mark Cuthbert for manually posting the scores. The next club event is at Old Hickory July 21st.
Skins $25ea.

Club Event at Scenic View - Results
Currie National Grinders,
Although somewhat blustery, we did escape the rain forecast and by current standards, we actually had a pretty nice day to play golf. I had never played Scenic View and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and the quality of the course. It was a challenging, but fair layout, and a lot of fun to play. This was a team event, however, I do need to highlight some very impressive individual scores. Lee Gardner turned in a 74, Steve Wolter and Chris Glinski shot 76, John Dobroski with a 78, and Steve Jaeger shot 79. Great playing guys! The winners and payouts in the team event are detailed below in addition to the skins winners. Congrats to all!
T1st Bruss, Camosy, Brock, Garbers -15 $22.50ea.
Mattheis, Olen, Romanowski, (Blind Draw) -15 $22.50ea.
3rd Dobroski, Glinski, Saks, Satula -12 $10.00ea.
4th Brandt, Frenzel, Cuthbert, Jaeger -11 $5.00ea.
Skins $31.00ea.
Chris Glinski #8
Steve Satula #11
Steve Jeager #13
Chuck Garbers #16
Thanks to all who participated and thanks to Steve Wolter and Jeff Camosy for assisting with the scoring and skin payoffs.

Second Team at Currie - Results
Gentlemen –
The Currie Second Team romped at the National today, winning the event with an excellent total of 277 points. Greenfield was a distant 2nd with 210 points and Dretzka took 3rd with 192. Fourteen of our 16 players won 13 or more points. Leading the way were Doug Bowring and Mark Cuthbert with 24 each, Steve Jaeger with 23, Steve Amble with 22, and Rich Saks with 21. Jaeger was our medalist with an 80. Doug Bowring shot 81, and Saks and Gerry McGrath 82.
The highlight of the day was a hole in one by Vince Vitrano of the Oakwood club on hole number 8. A couple of dull-witted guys, including our own Jessie Alba, failed a basic intelligence test by putting their name on the closest to the pin flag on that hole below Vince’s name. 😊
Two of our guys took skins, Amble with birdie on 8 (Hi handicap flight) and Billy Z with birdie on 17.
We have now won all 3 of this season’s events with just 1 more to go, that on August 31 at the Green Monster. We have a rather commanding lead of 143 points over second place Brown Deer on the season. It would be easy to be complacent going into that match, but we won’t be.
For the total point award for the season we have 4 players leading with between 55 and 58 points, Jaeger, Phil Levin, yours truly, and Bowring. It will be an exciting finish at the goat ranch.
The usual summaries are listed below.
Please remember to post your scores. That will not be done for you.
Thanks to everyone who came out to play today, and to Director Pederson for all the work he does for these matches. Thanks also go to Scott Walecki for keeping everything running smoothly, and for handling the scoring duties flawlessly.
See ya,
Jack
